Commissioning
What is commissioning?
We want to help you and your family live longer healthier lives by making sure you get the very best services, when and where you want them.
We receive a budget from the Department of Health which is used to buy services that have the greatest benefit for your health and wellbeing - this process is called ‘commissioning’. In basic terms, it is about working out what is needed by the local population, then buying that service from the best provider. This could be to continue with an existing service, or changing the service because there are new and better ways of caring for you.
Involving Patients
We are committed to involving patients and carers, and working with partners such as Norfolk Local Involvement Network (LINk), to help us plan and decide the services we commission. We also make sure that providers of health care from whom we commission services, are also involving the public.
Visit the Patient and Public Involvement section to find out all the different involvement opportunities and activities currently happening locally.
