About us
The R&D team is based at Lakeside 400 within NHS Norfolk’s Public Health Directorate. The team has a number of roles, some of which cover a number of NHS organisations. Research Development
Our research facilitator is available to help develop research capacity within NHS Norfolk, NHS Great Yarmouth & Waveney and Norfolk Community Health and Care. This means advising on the development of proposals, liaising to develop the best academic links for staff and identifying the best funding route for potential research projects.

Public and Patient Involvement in Research (PPIRes) Team
The PPIRes team liaise with researchers to promote and facilitate lay involvement in their research studies at a developmental stage. They recruit and support a volunteer panel of 60 members who are offered opportunities of involvement in the research process. The PPIRes team has panels in both Norfolk and Suffolk and covers all researchers within the Norfolk and Suffolk CLRN.
Research Governance Team
The governance team ensure that all research taking place in both primary and community care in Norfolk and Suffolk abides by the Department of Health Research Governance Framework. The team provide advice to both staff and researchers on all research governance issues including what is or isn’t research, NHS Permission (R&D approval) and approvals, honorary contract requirements, data protection issues and can provide advice on any issues or queries relating to good research practice
Primary Care Research Network (PCRN) Team
We have PCRN coordinators covering most primary care organisations within Norfolk and Suffolk CLRN. The coordinators works with researchers to help get their PCRN projects ready to recruit patients from primary care. Please contact the PCRN coordinator for the relevant NHS organisation for advice on PCRN studies. There are also a number of research nurses in NHS Norfolk who help support national portfolio research in primary care. The PCRN team also arranges payments to GP Practices for PCRN research involvement and can advise on this.

Sponsorship Activities
NHS Norfolk also host 2 Research for Patient Benefit Grants and provide Sponsorship activities for these two projects
