Accessibility

Accessibility of this website

NHS Norfolk is committed to the principle of accessibility and that all our services should be available to everyone, at the same level, and on equal terms.

We have tried hard to design this website so that it:

  • is quick to load
  • will work well now and in the future
  • can be customised to be read by a screen reader.

There are also special measures we can take to make websites better for disabled people. This is often called accessibility.

Changing the text size and colour

This may be useful for you if you have low vision, and need larger fonts or high contrast colours. You can change the font size, style and colour, and choose an alternative colour for links. You can also change background and foreground colours.

  • You can usually change the text size by holding Ctrl on your keyboard and rolling the wheel on your mouse or by using the AAA font resizing function at the top of each page
  • If using Internet Explorer on a PC, select the View menu at the top of your window. To change font size, scroll down and select the Text size option. To ignore font and background colours, choose the Internet options from the Tools menu at the top of the window. On the general tab of the window that appears, click the Accessibility button. This takes you to a menu where you can choose to ignore the way the page is formatted. Then return to the Internet options menu, and use the Colours and Fonts buttons to set your preferences. See also the information on the Microsoft website.
  • If using Internet Explorer on an Apple Mac, select Preferences from the Edit menu at the top of the window. From there, click on Web content and uncheck the Show style sheets option. Then return to the list of preferences and choose Web browser. Then click on Language/fonts and choose the size you need.
  • If using Mozilla Firefox on a PC or Apple Mac, see the information on the Mozilla website.
  • If using the Opera Browser, you can zoom a page from 20% – 100% by either: using the + and - , and * keys on your keyboard or using the drop-down zoom box at the top of the browser. See also the information on the Opera website.

PDF documents

Most computers already have the correct software to open these document formats. If not, you can download Adobe Acrobat reader, free of charge from the Adobe website.

Saving documents to your computer

  1. If you have a PC, right-click on the link to the document. If you use a Macintosh, hold down the mouse button over the link. In both cases, a popup menu will then appear.
  2. Scroll down the menu and click on ‘Save target as’.
  3. You will then be asked to choose a folder on your computer where you can save the document.
