Children’s mental health and well-being
NHS Norfolk recognises that children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing is as important as physical health. Commissioning a full range of Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS) is a priority.
Helen Jackson, NHS Norfolk’s Commissioning Manager for Children, is a member of the National Advisory Council (NAC) for children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.
The NAC is an independent body that was set up following the publication of the National Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Review. The NAC's remit is to:
- Champion the importance of mental health and psychological wellbeing and keep it as a national priority
- Ensure that the recommendations in the CAMHS Review are effectively addressed
Hold Government to account for its progress on implementing the 20 recommendations from the CAMHS Review - The NAC holds regular meetings with Government Ministers from the Department of Health and Department of Children, Schools and Families.
Norfolk has a strong CAMHS Strategic Partnership and Joint Commissioning Group with representation from the PCTs and Norfolk County Council.
