FishWell

FishWell - To fish well - you need to be well

What is FishWell

NHS Norfolk is working with the Fishermen’s Mission to deliver the FishWell project. FishWell is a health and wellbeing project aimed at Fishermen in Norfolk.

Fishing is the most hazardous peacetime occupations in the world. Fishermen do a physically demanding job, often working long hours in harsh conditions with unpredictable catches and income security. These factors combine to make it difficult for fishermen to keep themselves healthy and well and access health services.

The FishWell project is a pilot outreach service that brings Health Services to Fishermen in Norfolk.

What health services will there be at a FishWell event

NHS Health Checks (people aged 40 – 74 - please book before hand)

An individual health check to assess you risk of developing Cardiovascular disease (CVD), which includes heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and type 2 diabetes and advice to reduce or manage your risk.

Health Trainers

The Kings Lynn Health Trainer Service will support the FishWell Events. Health Trainers will provide free Healthy Lifestyle 1-1 support. They can support you with concerns around smoking, alcohol, food, physical activity and your general health wellbeing.

Fishermen’s Mission
The Port Missioner for the Fishermans Mission will be on hand to offer advice and support for you and your family’s welfare needs.
