GPs – family doctors
All GP surgeries are obliged to see urgent medical problems on the same day, and a doctor may be able to help you over the phone. More routine appointments should be given within 48 hours.
Core hours are 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, however, many NHS Norfolk practices offer extended opening hours during the week for pre-bookable appointments only. And remember: you don’t have to be registered at a practice to be seen by a member of the medical staff.
Visit the NHS Choices website www.nhs.uk for opening hours. Alternatively, call your GP surgery direct.
Call your GP immediately if your child:
- Has a temperature of 38C or above or feels hot
and has one of the following symptoms:
- Tiredness,
- Headache,
- Runny nose and sneezing,
- Sore throat,
- Rash,
- Shortness of breath,
- Loss of appetite,
- Diarrhoea, or
- Aching muscles, limb and joint pain.
If you are worried about your child, always call your GP for advice. One thing you can do right now is make sure you have a digital thermometer to take your child’s temperature.
