Sun safety
Take care in the sunAs temperatures rise, NHS Norfolk is urging everyone to take care in the sun - whether at home or on holiday.
Always be aware of those who are especially susceptible to the risk during periods of high temperatures - such as the very young, the elderly, and people who regularly use multiple medications.
Here are some tips to avoid becoming dehydrated:
- Avoid going out in the hottest part of the day between 11am and 4pm.
- If you can’t avoid strenuous outdoor activity, like sport, DIY, or gardening, keep it for cooler parts of the day, like early morning or evening.
- If you must go out, stay in the shade - wear a hat and light, loose-fitting clothes.
- Whenever you go out, take plenty of water with you.
For more information about how to be sun smart, visit the NHS Choices website.
If you are concerned about your own or someone else’s symptoms during the hot weather, call your GP, pharmacist, or phone NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 for advice.
