Your NHS optician
To be sure that your eyes are healthy and your eyesight is good it’s important to have regular sight tests even if you feel you don’t need glasses.
How do I find an NHS optician?
To find an NHS optician in your area you can:
- Call NHS Norfolk PALS on 0800 587 4132
- Visit the NHS Choices website at: www.nhs.uk
Why is it important to visit an optician?
The eye examination is a vital health check and should be part of everyone's normal healthcare.
As well as checking whether your eyesight needs correcting with glasses there are other important reasons to have a regular eye test:
- The eye examination can detect a number of underlying health problems, such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
- The earlier a problem is detected the greater the chance of successful treatment.
- Poor eyesight is dangerous. Make sure that you meet the legal requirement for driving.
How often should I visit an optician?
It is recommended that you visit an optometrist every two years (or more frequently if advised).
